Chaotic IT!

Sighz...It's been 5 days and finally my office PC is back again. I should be happy at least my accounting system is working now & I can retrieve all my database back. But the thing is I can't surf Internet anymore through that PC! Arh....How am I going to survive without Internet! Sighz...The repairman, Alvin (who is also Jia's future jie fu) and me has been figuring out the Internet connection from 11am till 3pm loh! And finally after exploring out all the configuration and the problems that lie beneath, Alvin told me that there is a "hardcode" in my broadband. Hardcode??? What's that?

Definition of Hardcode:

In computer programming, to hardcode is to use an explicit rather than a symbolic name for something that is likely to change at a later time. It is more difficult to change if it later becomes necessary. In most programming languages, it is possible to equate a symbol with a particular name (which may also represent a number) value. If the name changes, the symbol stays the same and only the equate line of code needs to be changed to reflect the new name. When the program is recompiled, the new name is picked up wherever the symbol occurs in the code. Although there are search-and-replace tools that can change all occurrences of a given name, program code is very unforgiving in case a small error is introduced, and it is safer to have a single place in which such a change can be made. For this reason, hardcoding is usually a practice to be avoided. ---> Understand? Understood? Understood-ed?

So which mean there will be more complicating stuff to do in order to solve this problem...well.. Alvin says he will try to come down & fix it for us again...but I think it will be quite a tedious task. Somemore, he is going for re-servist nxt wk liao.. where got time?? Which mean I will not have internet to use for a long long time :(

Haiz.. dun tok abt my PC le.. the more I think the more I'm sad abt it.. sianz... keke.. later my darling coming back to SG liao.. So happy... :D can't wait to see him.. Only he has the power to cheer me up! K lah.. better go & prepare first. Going out with him later for dinner! Ciao~
