Well have been reading on articles abt pple been cheated by scam companines and guess what?
I received this kind of stupid call last night!
This is how it goes about..
At about 7.30pm, I received a call from a private number. It's a lady, she call herself "Sharon". She told me that I am one of the 20 lucky people who has been selected for four big gifts (the correct words to use should be prizes :x) from a lucky draw that I have taken part in recently.
Ok based on the above sentence, it's so obvious that it's a time-share company! Ok well, I will just play along with her then since I'm free after my work :p Plus where got pple still working after office hour. Can't believe that the workers in that company are so hardworking loh. The boss sure very happy to see them work until so late.
Then I say, "I don't remember I have fill in any lucky draw coupons recently". And she quickly changed her words & say "Oh do you remember that recently one of my colleagues have actually called u up to do a survey asking you whether have you travel with SIA before?"
I paused a while recalling the survey that she mentioned....Think I did received this kind of call 2 weeks ago from a guy saying that he is doing some survey but did not mentioned for which company and immediately asked "Have you travel with SIA before? What is your job title? What is your salary range?" After finished asking this 3 questions, he just ended the conversation in a very polite way.
Ok back to the conversation with her... "Oh yah, I remembered. Can I know which company are u calling from?" I told her. Then she said that she's from DHA. Then I asked "DHA what? What is the full name?" Then she still say "DHA" Then I asked again "Yah, I know is DHA but DHA what? Where got company name only DHA?" Then she immediately changed her company name and say "Sorry it's DAA, I'm new here so got mixed up" So I started to find it real fishy... and asked very loudly.. "It's DHA or DAA?" She says "It's DAA, we are travelling association like those in Natas Fair with 10 years of history... blah blah blah... " And I told her "I have never heard of DAA before."
And guess what from here onwards... whatever questions that I asked she only give me one standard answer that is "Miss Eng, don't worry, we are not any time-share company and there's really no gimmick, we are from DAA travel company with 10 years of history background and we are just some agencies like those in Natas Fair. And you have chosen as one of the 20 lucky people to be sponsored with S$1000 online shopping vouchers, 7 night free thailand trip, 1 for 1 cruise ride & free makeover with no TERMS & CONDITION you can use them anytime or give to your friend up to you"
stupid loh.. where got such good thing... I only know there's NO FREE LUNCH in this world
After persisting for almost 10 mins, I asked "So where can I collect the four big gifts that you mentioned?" She then told me "You can come over to Rolex Building located between Lucky Plaza & Paragon #18-02"
From here, I'm starting to wonder.. thought that Rolex Building has closed? How come still can go there?
Nvm, so I asked again "Do you have any contact number that I can call before I reached?" She says "it's 65365886 and look for me, Sharon when you reached. I will wait for you."
"Can I bring a friend along?" I asked. Her response is very big "NO! Cannot! As this is an exclusive event you have to come alone. You can ask ur friend to go shopping in Orchard. Now GSS period, alot of sales so can shop around." Then I say "Huh? Alone?" I think she know that I'm reluctant to go. So she quickly says "No worry, Miss Eng. You are not totally alone by yourself, there will be 90 guests around to collect the gifts. And I'm a girl you are also girl, so it's safe."
Pls loh.. thought just now you say only 20 pple win the prizes how come now got 90 guest attending this event & so what you are a girl? :p
"How long will it take? Coz I rushing to meet my friend" I told her. She says it's only take 90 mins! Very short only. "Huh? Collect gifts need 90mins to take meh? Did I need to pay for anything or not?" I told her. And she explained "Pay? Pay what? There's no admission or entrance fee nothing... and the 90 mins is because we need to explain to you how to use that gifts & need to show you around and introduce you our company."
Yah right.. 90 mins will be promoting some stupid membership to me. You think I'm only 3 years old kid is it? And she sound so auntie loh.. so unprofessional :p
"So Miss Eng, can I confirm with you that you are coming down tomorrow 7pm to 8.30pm to collect your gifts?" She asked. Knowing that it's a scamming thing, but I still play along & say "Ok loh". "Thank you Miss Eng, now I will transfer you to my supervisor who will asssit you, you hold on for a second" she said. And guess what? I heard her voice shouting across the room at the background saying "MISS ENG IS CONFIRMED COMING DOWN TOMORROW!"
"Do...do.. do..." a very fake transferring sound (think must be using some recorder to record down)
A guy picked up the call & claiming that he is the supervisor
He sounds so young to me...
"So, Can I have your company name again?" I asked. He then says "We are from Exotic Asia Pte Ltd". "I thought your colleague says it's DAA how come now is Exotic Asia" I said. "Oh DAA is the travel company that engaged us to market their company. We are actually a marketing agency we are only doing our part for DAA to organize this sponsorships event... blah blah blah.. so you confirmed coming down tomorrow? You MUST come down ok if not we will have hard time explaining to the sponsors if you did not appear." he said. And I told him "Yes, coming down...." And he ended up the call very politely.
Luckily there's a thing call internet, I decided to google search "Rolex building #18-02" and I found something amazing.... I'm not the only one who received this kind of call and of coz not the other 19 people who got it.. but it's like more than 50 of them! Some of them really believed it and go & buy their membership for S$14,000!!! Siao :x
