My Birth Story!

Finally I'm back to blogging again!

This time round I'm really going to blog about my birth story!

Currently, I'm doing confinement in Malaysia & I'm glad that I have chosen here.  Having to wake up every morning, seeing my hubby by my side really makes me feel contented.  Looking out of the window, breathing in fresh air from the greenery just outside the house.  Hearing birds chirping here & there.  It's so good to be away from the bustling city once in a while.  Still left 4 more days and I will end my confinement :)  Can't wait to go hair salon & have a good hair wash!  Can't wait to go spa for a good body scrub & massage!

BB Yi Rui is finally born to this world after waiting for so long (actually he is born one week earlier than my EDD).  But because Dr Wong has been giving me warning sign that I might give birth probably in the end of September.  So everyone is anticipating for his arrival since September! :x

3rd October 2010, Sunday
As usual woke up quite early and was happily browsing through my facebook.  My sis, Xin suddenly rang me up & told me that Nicole (one of my preggy friends) gave birth to a 4.4KG baby girl over the night!  The baby is indeed huge but I'm really envy her that she has finally popped! :x  So I started to ponder.... when will BB Yi Rui coming out to meet us?

At night, went for a simple & yet full dinner with my parents & some relatives to celebrate Dad's lunar birthday.  Studies have shown spicy food can induce labour and that night he ordered a plate of black pepper chilli crabs which turn out to be extremely spicy!  Probably that's the main cause of my early labour :p

After our dinner went over to my SIL, Lixin's place to get some stuffs from her.  And she keeps talking to my tummy asking BB Yi Rui when do he want to come out & play & "reprimanded" him for letting her to wait so long.  Haha! I guess BB Yi Rui heard her words!

That night, we turn in quite early as usual... but somehow I didn't really get to sleep especially when my tummy is getting bigger, having to find a good sleeping position seems to be difficult.  But I will never have thought that the night was going to be so happening when the clock striked 1:00am.

4th October 2010, Monday
Halfway through my sleep, suddenly felt liquid leaking slowly through my vaginal.  Initially, I still thought that might be some urine leakage.  So I quickly got up from my bed & went to have a quick check in the toilet.  And to my surprise, it's not urine leakage! It's my waterbag burst!  Immediately, I shouted for hubby (who was also in the other toilet) but he can't hear me... so I shouted again & finally he rushed out from the toilet.  I will never forget his panic & excited facial expression!  Luckily, I have packed my hospital bag one month ago.  So I just changed into a proper attire & took my luggage & sit at the living room watching my hubby packing his stuffs urgently :x  I even still have time to tidy up my bed.

Anyway, really thank god that hubby was with me when I'm in labour & it happened on this non-peak hours!  We managed to reach Thomson Medical Centre in 15 mins time!  This is also when I started to feel a mild contraction coming!  Have been always wondering how does a contraction felt like and now I had the answer.  It felt like a normal menses cramp in the beginning stage but at the later stage... let you know later :p

Reached the observation ward & quickly change into the hospital robe given by them.  Was given a sanitury pad to wear but no disposable panties given! Can you imagine how I manage to wear that sanitury pad without the support of panties? After that I was given some medication to clear my bowel and it took about few minutes before the diarrhoea feeling kicks in.  I think the whole process is messy especially when my waterbag is still leaking at the same time!  Talking about waterbag, the colour started to turn PINK (not red) and eventually it become bloody show (look like menses).

After going to & fro the toilet almost four times, my bowel is finally emptied.  I was then directed to the birth room waiting for the final (pushing) stage. Took out my iphone & start listening to my ipod on "Birthing relaxation" Mp3 to relax my muscle & mind. Well... to me, it did help me to relax during my first 5 hours of labour.

By 6am, I've reached the second stage of labour and contraction is starting to get worst.  I have never ever experience this kind of pain in my whole life! It's 100X worser than a menses cramp! This is also the time, I shouted for "EPIDURAL!!!". I'm glad I opted for an epidural. If not, I don't know how I can survive my 9 hours of labour inside the birth room in such a painful state. Though I have opted for that, I've also requested to have the dosage set at only 30% so that I can feel the urge to push when I'm in the last stage.

Hubby has been very supportive inside the birth room.  He even shed his tears when he saw me in such a great pain :)  I think all wifey should let your hubby accompany you in the birth room to experience what woman has gone through in labour!

By 9am plus, my cervix has fully dilated to 10cm.  The nurse then taught me the correct breathing technique to push my baby out.  Hubby was there holding on my hand giving his support & comfort words.  After umpteen attempts of pushing & with the help of the nurses, Dr Wong & hubby, baby Yi Rui was finally out at 11.47am!  In the end, I still end up with episiotomy :(  But it's really no big deal after you get to see your precious baby came out to see this world safely, whatever pain you have gone through is all worth it!

I even cried out loud when I first saw my baby on my chest... It's not the pain but the touching moment to get to feel & touch your own baby who has been inside your womb for the past 38 weeks! Even hubby also shed his tears when he first saw our son! Can you imagine how much tears my hubby has shed on that day alone? I have never seen him cried so much before after together with him for so many years! :x

Lastly, thank you darling for the medal gift (with the help of his sis, Lixin)! Am so gladful that you are by my side throughout my labour process despite not getting enough of rest. Without you that night, I won't be able to see the sentimental side of you :) Love you! *Hugz*
